Say "Hola" to health
The Nutrition in Nicaragua Project is a five day adventure in November of 2017 taking place in the Northwest part of Nicaragua involving three elements of nutrition and nutrition education including research, teaching, and community connection.
exploreA large part of nutrition deals directly with analyzing culture and eating habits of individuals and communities. As such, the Nutrition in Nicaragua Project includes two days of observational research at local markets and grocery stores, exploring patterns found in those shopping locally. Furthermore, types of foods purchased as well as at what price will be observed for later inspection.

coachThe old adage "give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime" has never held more truth. Teaching basic sanitary and food safety rules is a main effort of the Nutrition in Nicaragua Project and will include several hour long lectures held in various communities open to the public. Each lesson will also include the most elementary nutrition information regarding healthy diet, especially as encouraged by the USDA.

connectCreating links between community members to encourage proper diet and overall health is a large goal of the Nutrition in Nicaragua Project. Connecting those with resources available within their reach as well as directing them to reliable sources is a main aspect and purpose of this project and will be facilitated by investigating, verifying, and marketing resources available to Nicaraguenses, as well as valuable informative sources found online.
